CoursePan Privacy Policy

CoursePan is a macOS application for authoring interactive e-learning courses and working with .story project files. CoursePan is developed and published by Better Brain Lab LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”).

No Data Collection: CoursePan does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data, usage telemetry, or course content.
No Account Required: CoursePan requires no sign-in, registration, or subscription account.
No Third-Party SDKs or Trackers: The application contains no analytics, advertising, tracking, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs.
100% Local Processing: All courses (.atelier), imported .story archives, embedded media assets, HTML5 web exports, and SCORM 1.2 packages remain locally on your Mac in locations you choose.

How CoursePan Operates on Your Mac

Your Documents and Files: CoursePan runs inside the macOS App Sandbox. It can only access files and folders that you explicitly open or choose via standard macOS Open/Save panels, Finder, drag-and-drop, or the recent-documents list, plus its own sandboxed container directory.
Images and Media: When you import an image or open a .story project containing media, CoursePan processes those assets locally on your Mac and stores them inside your course document. Your original files on disk are never modified unless you explicitly save over them.
Course Preview: When you preview a course, CoursePan writes temporary HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files to its local temporary directory and renders them in an isolated, non-persistent Apple WKWebView instance. Those temporary files are removed when you close the Preview window.
Network Entitlement Disclosure: CoursePan includes the com.apple.security.network.client sandbox entitlement solely because macOS requires it for WKWebView's WebContent process to render local HTML5 previews. CoursePan itself makes no outgoing network requests, and published/previewed courses enforce a strict Content-Security-Policy with connect-src 'none'. External web links authored inside a course open in your default macOS web browser when clicked.
Clipboard: CoursePan accesses the macOS pasteboard only when you explicitly invoke Copy, Cut, or Paste.
Hardware Permissions: CoursePan does not access your location, contacts, photo library, camera, or microphone.

Published Web Courses and SCORM 1.2 Packages

CoursePan generates standalone HTML5 web archives and SCORM 1.2 packages locally on your Mac; it never uploads or hosts them.
A published standalone web course keeps learner progress in memory within the open browser tab and does not transmit data over the network.
A published SCORM 1.2 package, when hosted in a Learning Management System (LMS) chosen by the course author, communicates standard SCORM 1.2 data elements (cmi.core.lesson_status, cmi.core.score.raw, cmi.core.session_time, cmi.core.lesson_location, cmi.suspend_data, and cmi.core.exit) directly between the learner's browser and that LMS. Better Brain Lab LLC never receives or has access to learner data.

Apple App Store Diagnostics

CoursePan is distributed through the Mac App Store. If you have opted in to sharing diagnostics and usage data with app developers in your Mac's system settings, Apple may provide us with anonymized, aggregated crash logs and installation metrics under Apple's own Privacy Policy. We use those reports solely to diagnose and fix software defects. You can disable diagnostic sharing at any time in macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.

Support Communications & Children's Privacy

If you contact us directly via email at support@coursepan.com, we receive your email address, message, and any files or diagnostic logs you choose to include. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry and resolve your issue, and we delete support correspondence upon request at support@coursepan.com.

Children's Privacy: CoursePan does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Data Retention, Deletion & Contact Us

Because CoursePan collects no personal data from the app, we hold no user profiles or cloud data to delete.
Your course documents live on your Mac; you can delete them in Finder at any time.
Standard macOS document state (such as window frames and autosave recovery files) is stored locally in ~/Library/Containers/com.betterbrainlab.coursepan on your Mac.
If a future version of CoursePan changes how information is handled, we will update this Privacy Policy prior to releasing that version and revise the effective date above.
