Direct Contact & System Requirements

When emailing support@coursepan.com, please include your CoursePan version (CoursePan > About CoursePan), your macOS version (Apple menu > About This Mac), and the steps to reproduce your question or issue.

Quick Start Guide

  1. Create or Explore a Course: Launch CoursePan and click Explore an example in the Welcome window (or choose File > New Example Course, Shift-Command-N) to open the built-in four-slide interactive scenario, or click Blank course (Command-N) to start from scratch.
  2. Import a .story Project: Choose File > Import Storyline Project… (or click Import a Storyline project… in the Welcome window) and select any .story archive:
    • Click Open as Editable Course to convert scenes, slides, question banks, slide layers, shapes, formatted text, embedded images, audio/video tracks, object states, timeline animations, variables, and triggers into an editable course.
    • Or click Open Linked Project to inspect the verified .story structure and source fidelity report with unchanged original archive retention.
  3. Author Slides & Interactions: Add text blocks, rectangles, ellipses, buttons, images (PNG, JPEG, HEIC, TIFF), audio/video tracks, hotspots, labeled markers, sliders, and rotary dials. Configure slide layers, object states, entrance/exit animations, variables, conditional triggers, and graded question/results slides in the Inspector.
  4. Preview Locally: Click Preview in the toolbar (Shift-Command-P) to test your course in the isolated built-in HTML5 player. Press Escape to close an active slide layer or exit Preview.
  5. Publish to Web or SCORM 1.2:
    • Click Publish to export a standalone HTML5 .zip package ready for any web server or local browser.
    • For courses containing at least one question slide and a results slide, choose File > Export SCORM 1.2 Package… (Option-Command-E) to export a standard SCORM 1.2 .zip package for your Learning Management System (LMS).

Working With .story Archives in Version 1.0.0

CoursePan is engineered around strict archive custody so your source files are never silently damaged:

  • Original Archive Custody (Export Original…): Linked and converted .story projects retain the imported .story archive byte-for-byte inside your .atelier package. You can export an unchanged copy of that original archive at any time.
  • Checked Surgical Writeback (Export Storyline Copy…): When you edit a course imported from a .story file and export a modified .story archive, CoursePan modifies only the affected inner XML parts, runs StoryExportReadback verification on the resulting package, and refuses unproven edit types before writing to disk.
  • Timeline Animation Scope: Fade, Fly, and Swivel are proven for .story import and surgical writeback. Additional effects (Spin, Grow/Shrink, Float, Bounce, Wipe, Split, Wheel, Random Bars, and Zoom) render in the native HTML5 and SCORM 1.2 player and are clearly labeled in the Inspector.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does CoursePan require an internet connection or cloud account?

No. CoursePan works 100% offline on your Mac. There is no account sign-in, subscription, cloud upload, or telemetry.

Why is “Export SCORM 1.2 Package…” disabled in the File menu?

SCORM 1.2 grading requires at least one graded Question Slide (Insert > Question Slide) and a Results Slide (Insert > Results Slide) in your course. Once both are present, File > Export SCORM 1.2 Package… becomes enabled.

Why did “Export Storyline Copy…” refuse a specific change?

To protect your .story files from silent corruption, CoursePan's StoryEditProofs gate only writes changes that are verified for .story XML writeback and readback. If your course uses an HTML5-only animation effect or an unsupported edit type, CoursePan explains which element was refused so you can either adjust the element or publish directly to standalone HTML5 / SCORM 1.2.

How do I get help with a specific .story file or LMS?

Send an email to support@coursepan.com with your CoursePan version, macOS version, and a description of the behavior. We respond directly to every support inquiry.
